Introduction to IIT Delhi
Indian Institute of Technology Delhi is one of the 23 IITs established in 1961. According to NIRF 2024 reports, the institute ranks at #2 out of 300 under the ‘Engineering’ category. It offers B.Tech, B.Des, Integrated B.Tech+M.Tech, M.Sc, MS (Research), MBA, M.Des, MPP, M.Tech, and PhD programs.
IIT Delhi offers admission to B.Tech as its flagship program. The fee for B.Tech for 2024 is INR 8.66 lakhs. To be eligible for admission, the candidates must have qualified 10+2 in the PCM stream with a minimum of 75% marks (10% marks relaxation for reserved category candidates) from a recognized board. IIT Delhi also offers admission to the MBA program. The fee for an MBA for 2024 is INR 13.24 lakhs. To be eligible for admission, the candidates must have completed a bachelor’s degree in any discipline with a minimum of 60% marks (5% marks relaxation for reserved category candidates) from a recognized university. The selection criteria for admission is based on the CAT scores followed by a Group Discussion and an Interview.
IIT Delhi Placement 2024 data is yet to be released. However, according to the placement 2023 data, the highest package offered was INR 41.13 LPA and the average package was INR 25.82 LPA. The top recruiters were Bajaj Auto, Boston Consulting Group, Intel, Praxis Global Alliance, Flipkart, ICICI Bank, Capgemini, Google, etc.

Admission Process at IIT Delhi
For B.Tech (Undergraduate):
- JEE Advanced Exam: Admission to B.Tech programs at IIT Delhi is through the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced. Only those who qualify in JEE Main are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced.
- Eligibility: Candidates must have completed their 12th class with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as main subjects.
- Counseling: After the JEE Advanced results, the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) conducts counseling for seat allocation based on ranks.
For M.Tech (Postgraduate):
- GATE Exam: Admission to M.Tech programs at IIT Delhi is through the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE).
- Eligibility: Applicants must have a B.Tech/BE degree or equivalent in a relevant field with a minimum qualifying score in GATE.
- Counseling: After the GATE exam results, selected candidates are called for the CCMT Counseling process.
For Ph.D. (Doctoral):
- Eligibility: A Master’s degree in the relevant field or a B.Tech degree with excellent academic performance.
- Entrance Exam & Interview: Candidates must qualify the IIT Delhi Ph.D. entrance exam and undergo an interview process based on their research area.
