Nijalingappa Medical College and HSK Hospital was established in the year 2002 in its old campus and in affiliation to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS). After some years, the foundation stone for this new medical college and hospital was laid on a huge 114-acre site at Navanagar, Bagalkot. The hospital is named after Shri Kumaraswamiji of Hanagal, who had played a significant role in establishing the Veerashaiva Vidya Vardhaka Sangha.
